Writing Marathon

Last week I participated in a writing marathon with a writing group. The daily goals were broken down by word count and chapter revisions:

  • Half-marathon: 1k words or revise two chapters
  • Marathon: 3k words or revise five chapters
  • Triathlon: 5k words or revise seven chapters

My goal was a daily half-marathon with the hope that I would be able to finish the last few chapters of my novel by the end of the week. Most of all, I looked forward to connecting with some writers and sharing our successes.

Even though I didn’t always write 1k words each day, I finished the main structure of my novel. I can’t wait until the next marathon when I can begin revising my novel.

I highly encourage writers to join a writer’s group for motivation and feedback. With that in mind, I will keep you posted on what I am doing, and you may join me as you like.

Happy writing!
