Five Stars
If you are familiar with the AMC series The Son starring Pierce Brosnan, you will find listening to or reading The Son by Philipp Meyer to be a unique experience. The book version contains several timeline differences that in my opinion make more sense than the one the television series portrays. The Audible book is over seventeen hours of deep character development, excellent readers, and historical integrity that kept me engaged until the end. Yet, I do recommend ear buds. The language and adult situations are for mature audiences only. I did enjoy the television series because of the acting and adapted story line. Without seeing it, I probably would not have been interested in the book. But, I do recommend the book to those who are interested in knowing the original story and can handle the realistic, frontier crudeness of the time period and its characters.
