When I wrote my post last Monday, I had no idea what else would be lost in the days since then. It is difficult to see the gains when senseless acts destroy life, disrupt order, decimate property, disturb peace, and diminish grief.
I will repeat myself and ask, Are we more concerned about what we may have lost–what we may indeed regain–than who we might lose forever?
Will we remember who we have lost?
What might be gained with this unrest…
…if we see one another for who we truly are?
…if we watch out for one another?
….if we treat one another with kindness?
…if we listen to one another’s stories…
as we continue to walk these streets together?
